Fashion - a bigger pollutant than air travel!

Happy World Earth Day... in all the awfulness that is the Covid19 pandemic isn’t it nice that she’s able to take a breath for a change!

Do you know the fashion industry is one of the biggest contributors to global pollution?! Second only to the oil industry!

  • Every second 2.6 tonnes of clothes are burned or landfilled - enough to fill 1.5 Empire State buildings everyday

  • Nasty polyester will take 200 years to decompose it also feels like sh!t to wear

  • It takes up to 20,000 litres of water to make just 1 kilo of cotton - that’s 20,000!!! Think about that, drinking 2 litres a day seems loads - my brain can fathom multiplying that by 10,000

  • Pesticides used on cotton crops for clothing contribute 25% to total global insecticide use

These are just some of the stats which are so so shocking and to be honest I was a bit naive to this until fairly recently and am super guilty of having more clothes than I need. But we have to and can do better.

Our services encourage a little more sustainability, my wardrobe cleanses and styling parties actually help you look at your existing clothes and see new potential in them! And we all need to make friends with our local alterations buddy, it’s crazy the difference a talented tailor can make!

Recent feedback from a client on her wardrobe cleanse experience included:

✅I have at least 8 ‘new outfits’ to wear from my existing wardrobe. Nuala was able to put together outfit combinations that I’d never have thought of which has given me loads more options.
✅ I now have a much better idea of what to wear for each of the different parts of my life - and it requires no thought from me. That’s the best thing ever! I waste so much mental effort on what to wear (much harder than doing my job )
✅ I have a much better sense of accessorising and now am more confident putting together my own outfit combinations
✅ I’m feeling fab in my ‘new’ wardrobe
✅ I’m feeling way more confident about my style and what works for me.
✅ And the best bit is, to refresh my wardrobe is only a case of a few accessories so I don’t really need to buy anything else which is a total win!

Small steps can make a big difference #AllAboutTheUpCycling saving you money and the planet her resources all while looking fablis of course.
